A sunny bank holiday!? Unheard of!

on

What a beautiful week. This summer went so quickly without me even realising so I am holding on to every moment of beautiful weather and spending as much time outside as I can.

Pastry, coffee and help for the bees

Wednesday 21st was a coffee and pastry for breakfast at my absolute favourite Urban Botanica (shoutout to my altmilk bae Stephen), working at home with the windows open and then G&Ts outside in the courtyard at my flat with a colleague. I made them fancy, one with citrus and elderflower and one with blueberries and burnt thyme. Woot.

The weekend came with not only a day off (last proper bank holiday until spring!) but GLORIOUS weather. I spent a lot of time sitting outside in the sun, absorbing as much vitamin D as I could and with 30C temperatures, I was happy to do so.

Getting my vitamin D fix

I spent some of the weekend just at home with the windows open and in the courtyard which was lovely but bank holiday Monday I decided to go to Kennington Park. Its such a beautiful space and I don’t use it enough even though I live so close.

For breakfast I took myself to Vanilla Black Kennington which does lovely food and has a gorgeous little hidden courtyard. Its always hard to choose, as everything is so delicious, but I went for a classic: Bacon, smashed avocado and poached egg on toast, with a fresh orange juice. When I was younger I wasn’t comfortable going out to eat on my own but now it is one of my favorite things to do and it was so lovely to sit in the sun, watch the world go by and read a bit of my book.

Lovely breakfast from Vanilla Black Kennington

After that I headed to Kennington park where I sat for hours. I also visited Kennington Park Cafe for the first time which has recently been taken over by the guys who run the Sugar Pot on Kennington Road (which is also brilliant). Because of my largish (and late) breakfast I only had a smoothie (and a salad later for dinner) but they do lovely looking fresh pizzas.

After such a busy few weeks it was lovely to have some time to myself to relax and recharge. I even managed to do fancy nails. Check me out

Fancy golden nails done by me! Tribute to the sunshine.
