I’m sure I’m not the only one, but I can never keep track of what is or isn’t good for us, or what diet we should be following and with the “rules” changing so often who can blame us. The one thing that has always stuck with me since childhood though is that breakfast is the most important meal of the day (hopefully that’s still the case). I have always been a big breakfast fan and I love breakfast foods of all kinds. As children, my brother and I held a pretty large cereal collection (a love that has continued into adulthood for me) with a wall of boxes hemming us in each morning before we headed to school (also providing bonus reading material as we sat quietly next to each other at the table)
Growing up and now living in London, my tastes have certainly expanded and with all the many brunch options in the city, I am certainly never struggling for choice.
For a while I got out of the habit of eating breakfast. Getting up and ready for work was already difficult enough without attempting to factor in making and eating a meal. However, in January 2018 I decided to do Whole 30 (more on that another day) and with the limitations in food, meal prepping and the need to keep your energy levels up, breakfast was back on the table, a habit which continued long beyond the 30 days of the diet.
While I have fallen in and out of it a little I am certainly better in investing time and energy into eating properly and starting my day right. The current menu is normally berries and banana with coconut yogurt, granola and sometimes a spoon of crunchy almond or peanut butter.
Yum
