Saturday I decided to have a day just for me. Breakfast at home and then yoga in town. It was quite the class i was expecting but I pushed myself for 90mins and felt so good afterward. Then after a short walk I headed to Honey & Co (honeyandco.co.uk) near Warren St, a lovely little middle eastern restaurant. This place has been on my list for a while and after happening to wander past it on Friday on the way to a meeting I decided this weekend was the time to go.
I had booked a table (I recommend this as there were constantly people arriving and its pretty small). They sat me outside and I settled in on the quiet street. I am going to have to go back at some point as even on the small menu there were many things I wanted to order. I settled for the Lamb Sharwarma – slow cooked spiced lamb shoulder with burnt pita, pomegranate and amba and a Moshiko (a kind of middle-eastern mojito). Watching the world go by and reading my book (Let That Sh*t go by Nina Purewal & Kate Petriw which I am really enjoying) was just what I needed.
The food was incredibly delicious and felt both elevated and authentic. I loved the mix of flavours and textures in each mouthful and for me the size was absolutely perfect. I followed the recommendation of the waiter and ordered the feta cheescake which “some say is life changing” and let me tell you it was amazing. The crispy base with the creaminess of the feta cheesecake top with berries and honey was something I will definitely be eating again and paired with my oat milk flat white was the perfect finish to the meal.
This place is well worth a visit, the staff are so friendly and helpful, the food is incredible and the setting is lovely. While its not cheap, Honey & Co have created something really special and with their little deli just across the way (a visit for next time) its well worth the trip, wherever you are coming from. I will definitely be back and taking friends and family when they are in town.
I followed lunch with a trip to the Crafty Fox Market in Mercata Metropolitano (Elephant & Castle). Lots of lovely makers and got some gifts for friends and for me. My personal favourites were Hello Grimes (hellogrimes.com) an illustrator who creates whimsical, fairytale like art and PURRfect Space (purrfect.space) who make beautiful and quirky jewellery, dinnerware and homewares and both now have pieces in my home.
It was a good day and one I will hopefully repeat soon.
